Was ist Realität? Diese Fragen stellt sich Mari Ishikawa.
In ihrem Schaffensprozess wird Mari Ishikawa selbst zur Schöpferin, lässt wie die Natur Elemente wachsen und wuchern. Dabei entwickelt sie eine gänzlich eigenständige Formensprache. Der Schmuck von Mari Ishikawa ist geheimnisvoll und entführt uns in eine andere Welt. Ihr Halsschmuck, ihre Broschen und Ringe sind facettenreiche und äußerst homogene Schmuckstücke, die wie natürlich gewachsen erscheinen. Dabei hält Mari Ishikawa einen Moment dauerhaft fest, der sonst einer kontinuierlichen Veränderung unterworfen wäre. Beim Betrachten ihres Schmucks kommen aber auch poetische Momente auf, werden Geschichten und Erinnerungen ablesbar, die uns zum Innehalten aufrufen. Der Schmuck von Mari Ishikawa zeigt deutlich, welche Schönheit uns auch im scheinbar Banalen umgibt. Wir sollten die Einladung annehmen, beim nächsten Spaziergang genauer hinzusehen, denn dann erst werden wir der Schönheit und des Reichtums unserer Umgebung gewahr.

What is reality? These are questions posed by Mari Ishikawa.
In her creative process, Mari Ishikawa herself becomes a creator, making elements grow and proliferate as nature does. In doing so, she develops an aesthetic all of her own. The jewellery of Mari Ishikawa is mysterious and takes us into another world. Her necklaces, brooches and rings are multifaceted and extremely uniform pieces of jewellery which look as if they’re naturally grown. In making them, Mari Ishikawa captures an eternal moment that would otherwise be continuously changing. A close look at her jewellery also gives rise to poetic moments and summons stories and memories that cause us to pause. Mari Ishikawa’s jewellery is an illustration of the beauty that surrounds us, even in the apparently banal. We should accept the invitation to look more carefully next time we’re out for a walk. Then and only then will we become aware of the beauty and the richness of the world in which we live.
